Jamie Gatesman, LPC
My goal as a Licensed Professional Counselor is to help others find themselves and live authentically. I see each person as unique and complex—far more than their symptoms or challenges. Within the therapeutic space, I aim to facilitate self-discovery, recognizing how your background, experiences, and strengths interact. I believe that human connection is an important facet of healing, and I view the therapeutic relationship as a powerful tool for growth and transformation.
I earned my undergraduate degree in Psychology with a Neuroscience Concentration and my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling both from John Carroll University. I am passionate about understanding the relationship between the mind and body, and applying this knowledge and experience into therapeutic practice. I have been involved in community and agency settings, engaging with clients from a diversity of experiences and backgrounds.
I currently work with clients 15+ with specializations in complex trauma, PTSD, sexual abuse, dissociation, relational concerns, anger management, spiritual/religious abuse, identity, transitional stressors, suicidal ideation, anxiety, and depression. Implementing a variety of treatment modalities from a trauma informed lens, I tailor my approach to individual client needs. With this perspective in mind, I apply evidence-based modalities including attachment theory, narrative therapy, CBT, DBT and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
In my free time, I enjoy crocheting, drawing, reading, crafts, music, and anything creative. You can find me spending time with my cat, watching reality tv, listening to podcasts and video essays, and trying new restaurants.
