Amy May, LPCC
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from John Carroll University and my Master’s degree in Art Therapy Counseling from Ursuline College. My first job as a counselor was for the Domestic Relations Court providing therapy and teaching research-based curriculum to at-risk youth. I have had the opportunity to work in many different clinical and outpatient settings in my career.
Most of my time as a therapist has been in private practice settings, which has allowed me to create an individualized approach to my practice. I have over 17 years of experience providing therapeutic services to the adolescent and adult populations. I currently work with adolescents (14+) through adult ages with specializations in substance use disorders, anxiety and depression disorders, life changes, grief, parenting issues, and stress management. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is the main component I use in treatment paired with a strong emphasis on sleep hygiene, diet, and exercise. There are a few things that we have control over in our lives and diet, exercise, and sleep are the top three that can have the biggest impact on one’s mental health.
In my free time I enjoy working out at Orangetheory, cooking, baking, hosting gatherings, and having fun with my family. I look forward to getting to know you and working towards a better version of yourself.
