Gabrielle Schmidt, LPC
As your therapist, my role is to provide support as you address life’s challenges and work towards your personal goals. My goal is to provide a welcoming, nonjudgmental environment where your experiences and stories are heard and valued. I enjoy working with clients who are motivated for change and open to collaboration.
I earned my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Akron. My training includes an internship at a residential eating disorder treatment center, where I found my passion for supporting those navigating eating disorders and body image concerns. I also have experience working with individuals managing anxiety, depression, trauma, interpersonal struggles, and life transitions. Whatever brings you to therapy, I am here to work alongside you to navigate life’s complexities and develop strategies that support authentic self-acceptance and lasting resilience.
I currently work with clients aged 16 and up, with a specialization in treating eating disorders and body image distress. I understand the complexities surrounding food, body image, and self-worth and strive to provide a safe space to explore your journey toward recovery. Using a blend of individualized skills and evidence-based therapies, including Person-Centered, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) we will work together to develop a healthier relationship with food and your body.
In my free time I enjoy exploring new coffee shops with my husband, cuddling with our cats, grabbing a meal with friends, or hanging out reading a book.
