Jessica Platt, LPCC-S
I have learned in my years of being present with others is that healing and growth are not a linear process, but rather paths that are filled with detours, exits, obstacles, forks in the road, and situations we have no control over; one person’s process is different than the next person’s. I believe everyone’s individual journey should be honored and celebrated. I see therapy as a collaborative process where we can work together to unpack traumas, overcome adversities, and push through the tough to attain a clear perspective and healthier version of self. I look to meet others were they are at by working from an eclectic, strengths based, and person centered approach while utilizing evidenced based practices such as CBT and DBT. I do not believe therapy is a one size fits all model. Through the collaborative process, we will build an individual plan that best suits your needs to put you back on track to overall wellness, increased personal potential, and self-awareness.
I earned my Master’s Degree from Kent State University in Community Counseling in 2005. I am licensed by the State of Ohio as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with a supervisory designation (LPCC- S). I enjoy working with adolescents, adults, and families. I have experience in intensive residential treatment, community and social services, crisis response, college settings, and in private practice. I have been on the administrative and direct practice ends of providing counseling services to others. I currently provide counseling services to people 12 years of age through adulthood in the areas of life transitions, stress and trauma, relationship concerns, mood disorders, anxiety, anger management, ADHD, and behavioral concerns. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time in the outdoors, being creative through crafts and other projects, working out, and listening to and reading both fiction and nonfiction books. I welcome the opportunity to provide for you a safe space filled with compassion, support, and a nonjudgmental presence to help you progress towards living a more meaningful life.
